Pierse Fitzgibbon Solicitors LLP has been advising clients since 1962. The firm’s partners and solicitors work across personal, commercial and institutional matters, supported by a team with defined responsibilities and continuity of service.
The background and areas of focus of each member of the team are set out below.
Martina Larkin
Managing Partner & Head of Debt Recovery
Martina has been with Pierse Fitzgibbon for over 25 years. She initially qualified as a barrister and practised at the Bar before joining the firm.
She leads the firm’s Debt Recovery Department and manages its Credit Union sector, which includes over 90 credit unions nationwide. She is also the partner-in-charge for the delivery of debt recovery services to public bodies and commercial entities.
Martina has extensive experience of debt recovery proceedings across all courts in Ireland. Her practice includes matters relating to personal insolvency, bankruptcy and garnishee applications. She also provides training and delivers seminars in the area of legal debt recovery.
Helena O’Carroll
Partner & Head of Litigation
Helena is a Partner at Pierse Fitzgibbon and Head of the firm’s Litigation Department. She has over 22 years’ post-qualification experience and has practised in both litigation and property.
Her practice includes civil and criminal litigation, with experience across all courts in Ireland. She advises clients on the practice and procedure in criminal prosecutions, whether tried summarily or on indictment, and acts in civil litigation matters for both plaintiffs and defendants.
Helena has specialised experience in personal injury and medical negligence cases. She is a Notary Public and an Accredited Mediator.
David Pierse
Partner & Head of Commercial Department
David is Head of the firm’s Commercial Department and advises clients across a broad range of corporate and commercial matters.
His practice includes mergers and acquisitions, corporate structuring and strategy, management buyouts and buy-ins, and funding arrangements for both start-ups and established companies. He also advises on commercial contract negotiations, employment matters and data protection compliance.
David joined Pierse Fitzgibbon in 2020. Prior to joining the firm, he gained experience in both private practice and industry following qualification, bringing a practical understanding of commercial decision-making to his advisory work.
Anne Keane
Partner & Head of Property and Probate
Anne joined Pierse Fitzgibbon as a Trainee Solicitor and progressed within the firm to qualify and advance to partnership. She now leads the firm’s Property & Probate Department.
Her practice focuses on residential and commercial property transactions and probate matters. Her client base includes commercial clients, lending institutions and credit unions, both locally and nationwide.
Anne is responsible for the delivery of the firm’s secured lending services to the credit union sector, including the registration of charges arising from loan facilities. Working with her team, she has developed precedent letters of loan offer together with a structured Security Pack for use by members’ solicitors, supporting efficiency and cost-effectiveness for credit union clients.
Stephanie O’Connell
Solicitor
Stephanie joined Pierse Fitzgibbon in 2020 and has over 20 years’ specialised experience in property and probate law.
Her practice encompasses a wide range of residential and commercial property transactions. She has acted in matters involving freehold and leasehold property, landlord and tenant arrangements, site acquisitions and disposals, and complex title issues, advising both private clients and developers.
Stephanie advises private clients, commercial entities and semi-state bodies, and has particular experience acting for lending institutions in connection with secured property transactions. She works with clients at all stages of the conveyancing process, from initial instruction through to completion, managing transactions efficiently and with careful attention to detail.
Karen Carmody
Solicitor
Karen joined Pierse Fitzgibbon in 2022 and has experience across litigation and property services, advising both commercial and private clients.
In her current role, Karen handles personal injury litigation claims at District, Circuit and High Court level, as well as complex medical negligence claims and equity matters. She manages cases from initial instruction through to resolution, including preparing applications to the Injuries Board, liaising with medical professionals to obtain records, briefing Counsel, and coordinating medical and other expert evidence (including experts outside the jurisdiction where required).
Karen works closely with clients throughout the claims process, keeping them informed as matters progress, advising on procedural and legislative developments, and assisting with settlement negotiations or preparation for court hearings and trials.
Mary Walsh
Consultant Solicitor
Mary returned to Pierse Fitzgibbon in 2002, having previously trained with the firm. She has over 33 years’ experience as a property solicitor.
Her practice is focused on property and probate transactions. She has managed a wide range of residential and commercial property matters, including apartment developments and retail complexes, and advises commercial clients, property developers and financial institutions at both local and national level.
Mary also plays a mentoring role within the department and provides guidance to colleagues on complex transactions.
Clodagh McCaffrey
Solicitor
Clodagh joined Pierse Fitzgibbon in 2026 and is a member of the firm’s Property Department.
Prior to joining the firm, she practised with a busy law firm in Limerick, handling litigation, conveyancing and probate matters. She has experience across all stages of property transactions, including preparing mortgage documentation, conducting closings, and managing stamping and registration of title.
Before qualifying as a solicitor, Clodagh worked for a number of years as a legal executive, gaining practical experience in conveyancing and probate matters.
Mark Phelan
Team Lead
Mark is Team Lead within the firm’s Debt Recovery Department and has over 13 years’ experience in this area. With a Law Degree and extensive practical experience in debt recovery, he leads a team of specialists and has a detailed understanding of the procedures of the District, Circuit and High Court in matters involving financial institutions, government bodies, local authorities and commercial clients.
